
LAUREN NICOLE GUZMAN OF LAREDO WINS MISS TEXAS TEEN USA® PAGEANT!

The 2008 MISS TEXAS TEEN USA® pageant was held on Sunday afternoon, November
25, at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel. One hundred thirty-three contestants
from across Texas competed for a prize package that includes a four year college
scholarship, jewelry, travel, wardrobe, and the honor of representing Texas
next year in the premier national pageant for teenagers, MISS TEEN USA®.
The newly crowned Miss Texas Teen USA is eighteen year-old, Lauren Guzman, who
represented Laredo. A senior at J. B. Alexander Health Science Magnet High School,
Lauren is Captain of the Varsity Swim Team and holds four USID swimming records.
She is a member of the Quick Response Team of the Texas State Guard, a volunteer
state military force which assists and augments Texas civil authorities in times
of emergencies and in on-going support of local communities.
First runner-up
is Miss Gulf Coast Teen USA, Holly Graves; second runner-up is Miss Rio Grande
Valley Teen USA, Sydney Durso, who was also voted Best in Swimsuit; third runner-up
is Miss Dallas Teen USA, Jessica Cornett; and fourth runner-up is Miss Houston
Teen USA, Chlesea Degueyter, also named Most Photogenic.
Semifinalists are Miss Austin Teen USA, Holly Kuhn; Miss Bay Area Teen USA,
Jessica Kirkland; Miss Capital of Texas Teen USA, Rachel Ross; Miss Gateway
City Teen USA, Barbara Falcon; Miss McLennan County Teen USA, Caitlynn Fisher;
Miss San Antonio Teen USA, Alexandra Ahmadi; Miss South Texas Teen USA, Ashley
Hughes; Miss Sugar Land Teen USA, Rachelle Gerke; Miss Troup Teen USA, Amanda
Margraves; and Miss Wood Creek Teen USA, Cassie Coker. The
award for Congeniality went to Miss North Texas Teen USA, Catherine Lewis.
The 3rd annual People’s Choice Award was won by Miss El Paso Teen USA,
Jordan Beckoff. Voters for the People’s Choice donated one dollar for
each vote cast, all to go to the Military Moms and Wives of Brazoria County,
a volunteer organization that supports troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A total of $5,304.00 was raised, which will send 588 care packages to our American
heroes.
Albert Soliz and Miss Texas USA 2008, Crystle Stewart, hosted the show. Miss
Texas Teen USA 2007, Sommer Isdale was a special guest.
