Houston, TX, September 4, 2011Brittany Booker was crowned MISS TEXAS USA 2012 on Sunday, September 4th, in a competition featuring 123 contestants from throughout Texas.  Representing Houston in the pageant, the 20-year-old beauty is a student at the University of Houston, double majoring in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies. Miss Booker is interested in helping those with special needs and volunteers much of her time at Hope Village, a non-profit organization that helps house and create activities for individuals with mental disabilities.

 

In addition to representing the Great State of Texas in the 2012 MISS USA® pageant, Miss Booker wins a prize package valued at approximately $100,000 and includes scholarships, travel, clothing, jewelry and much more.  Hosting the show were Miss USA 2008, Crystle Stewart, and international model, Max Sebrechts. 

 

Miss Laredo, Lauren Guzman, was named first runner-up.  Miss South Texas, Barbara Falcon; Miss Dallas, Shannon McAnally; and Miss Bay Area, Erin Kay; were selected as second through fourth runners-up, respectively. 

 

The other contestants named to the top sixteen earlier in Sunday’s competition were Miss DFW, Kathryn Dunn; Miss El Paso, Georgina Macias; Miss Fort Worth, Christina Entsminger; Miss Galveston County, Taylor Lanning; Miss Gulf Coast, Kallye Mitchell; Miss Lake Jackson, Brittany Tiner; Miss Mission, Ashley Hughes; Miss North Dallas, Sarah Boehner; Miss Rio Grande Valley, Ylianna Garza; Miss San Antonio, Larissa Taylor; and Miss Spindletop, Ashlea Gutierrez.

 

Miss Nacogdoches, Jamie Poskey won the title of “Miss Congeniality”.  Lauren Guzman, Miss Laredo, was chosen as the “Swimsuit Winner” and Ashlea Gutierrez Miss Spindletop was named as “Most Photogenic”.

 

The winner of the “People’s Choice Award” was, Ashlea Gutierrez, Miss Spindletop. A total of $3,250 was raised by donating one dollar for each vote. All proceeds benefitted the Military Moms and Wives of Brazoria County, a non-profit organization that sends “care packages” to our American heroes deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
