Houston, TX, September 1, 2013 – Lauren Guzman was crowned MISS TEXAS USA 2014 on Sunday, September 1st, in a competition featuring 104 contestants from throughout Texas. Hailing from Laredo and representing Central Laredo in the pageant, the 23-year-old, 5’9” brunette beauty is a member of the Quick Response Team of the Texas State Guard, a volunteer state military force which assists and augments Texas civil authorities in times of emergencies and in ongoing support of local communities. Lauren is also our former Miss Texas Teen USA from 2008!
In addition to representing the Great State of Texas in the 2014 MISS USA® pageant, Miss Guzman wins a prize package valued at approximately $100,000 and includes scholarships, travel, clothing, jewelry and much more. Hosting the show were Miss USA 2008, Crystle Stewart, and international model, Max Sebrechts.
Miss Dallas, Jordan Schultz, was named first runner-up. Miss South Texas, Ylianna Guerra; Miss Kemah, Peyton Saverance; and Miss South Central Texas, Alejandra Gonzalez; were selected as second through fourth runners-up, respectively.
The other contestants named to the top seventeen earlier in Sunday’s competition were Miss Austin, Caitlyn Rasmussen; Miss Bay Area, Kenda Carroll; Miss Capital of Texas., Melissa Novak; Miss DFW, Tahnae Tarkenton; Miss Franklin Mountain, Stephanie Rivas; Miss Galveston, Erin Kay; Miss Houston, Kourtney Magnes; Miss Lone Star Brianna Webb; Miss North Dallas, Christina Entsminger; Miss San Antonio, Alexandra Ahmadi; Miss Sun City, Victoria Sinclair; Miss Woodlands, Liggia De Uriate.
Miss Midland County, Alyssa Adair won the title of “Miss Congeniality”. Kenda Carroll, Miss Bay Area, was chosen as the “Swimsuit Winner” and Stephanie Rivas, Miss Franklin Mountain was named as “Most Photogenic”.
The winner of the “People’s Choice Award” was, Brianna Mahan, Miss Westside. Approximately $3,500 was raised by donating one dollar for each vote. All proceeds benefitted Shriners Hospitals for Children, a non-profit organization that provides specialized care to children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord, and cleft lip and palate injuries regardless of the familes' ability to pay.
